It looks like we are getting a new Beach Cow Creamery in Gulf Shores next to the Sea n Suds parking lot. We visited the location in Panama City Beach, and it was fantastic.

Gourmet World Market has added new indoor seating and a great coffee menu to their menu.
Orange Beach Resident Beach Parking at CoastAL - Closed Feb 3-8
The resident beach parking at CoastAL will be temporarily closed from February 3rd to 8th, 2026 while Brett/Robinson removes the tower crane at the new Phoenix South Point condominium.
2026 Winter Update - City of Orange Beach
We went to the City of Orange Beach update today and wanted to share some of the things we learned.
City of Orange Beach Financial Strength - 120 Million in cash & reserves
Assessed Property Value - $2.08B
The New Veterans Memorial will have the Space Force added to it soon.
City of Orange Beach New Logo - Will start to appear on wayfinding signs around town.
A Fire Training Center is under construction behind Fire Station #1 to help train new firefighters for Baldwin County.
A hurricane safe room is being built with FEMA funds on Rosco Road so 1st responders and city operations can be fully set up in case of storms.
New grant funded greenhouse will propagate marsh and seagrasses to help with shoreline rehab. They will also grow flowers in the greenhouse for City of Orange Beach landscaping.
14 new outdoor pickleball courts coming to the Orange Beach Rec Center (2 more than Gulf Shores). The plan is to have these open in March 2026.
A new pool is going to be built at the Aquatic Center. When it is completed, the current pool will be redone. The new pool area with have a splash pad, an athletic river (not a lazy river), new lifguard facility. They plan to start work at the end of 2026 and into 2027.
Orange Beach Wildlife Center -2025 took in 865 animals, had 1,385 logged calls. They worked on 96 species of birds, 13 species of reptiles, 13 species of mammals, for a total of 122 species.
The wildlife center is not currently open to the public but is looking at having events or opportunities for people to visit soon.
We learned that Boomer the Pelican who was rehabbed at the Wildlife Center has been transported to a zoo in Oregon.
New Coastal Alabama Sea Turtle Triage will be a free-standing ER for sea turtles. The center will have pools that the turtles can rehab it before hopefully being returned to the Gulf.
Recycling Bins are now located next to OBMHS (Orange Beach middle high school) Glass recycling is now available by the beach water tower.
The City of Orange Beach is partnering with the county for a Hard to Recycle Materials facitlity off of Russian Road. Expected to open this Spring.
The recycling center will accept aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, cardboard, Plastic (types 1-7), mixed paper, small household batteries, and lightbulbs at no cost. There will be a small handling fee for paint an car batteries.

Orange Beach Shooting Complex - A future rifle range is planned and should be open by late spring or early summer. The trap and skeet facility is now open to the public for a fee. They have classes with a safety officer available.

34th Annual Seafood Festival will be Saturday February 28, 2026
The old toll bridge building is going to be a regional office for ALDOT (Alabama Department of Transportation).
Adventure Island - New Coaster
Adventure Island will have a new Tidal Wave Spinning Coaster!
Studio Cantrell - Now Open
Studio Cantrell is now open in the location that was the Pink Pelican Art Gallery. They are focused on showcasing local art.

Lauria's in Orange Beach Sold - Will become The Red Haven Live
Lauria's Italian Bar & Bistro in Orange Beach has been sold. The restaurant will be renovated and become - The Red Haven Live. Josh Newcom stated in their Facebook post that the music format will be unique and unlike anwhere else in town.
Pedros Fresh Mex - Opening in Orange Beach
Pedros is moving into the location that used to be Carver's Steakhouse in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Gulf Shores Hooters - Reopened January 24, 2026
Gulf Shores Hooters Reopened on January 24th, 2026 after a ton of remodeling and construction.
Bad Ass Coffee Hawaii - Opening in Gulf Shores
Bad Ass Coffee is opening in Gulf Shores on West Beach. They will be moving into the location that was LA Pizzeria next to Mythic Beach Banana Bar!

Royal Standard - Moving to the Wharf
Royal Standard is moving from Gulf Shores to the Wharf. Their sign says they plan to open March 2026
Wetland Park - New Upgrades
Wetland Park, located at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex received some great new upgrades, including the old pavilion removed (plans are in place to build a new one), fresh gravel on the walking trail, the walking bridge and pier were pressure washed, and old boards were replaced.
Wetland Park is located at the base of the water tower in Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
Gulf Shores Airport - Terminal Expansion
Gulf Shores International Airport is moving forward with design development and construction which is scheduled to begin summer 2026. The improved terminal should be ready by May 2027.
The terminal expansion includes extra concession options, larger gate areas, a larger baggage claim, an outdoor patio, and more.
Laguna Cove Nature Park
The City of Gulf Shores is moving forward with plans to create a new nature park on Little Lagoon - Laguna Cove. This project will turn a 53-acre tract into a great recreational space and conservation area.
The park will include public restrooms, low-impact parking, kayaking, birdwatching areas, and interpretive boardwalks.
Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Parade - Back on Hwy 59!
The City of Gulf Shores announced that this years Gulf Shores Mardi Gras Parade will be back on Hwy 59 on Tuesday, February 17, at 10 a.m.!
Bagel Boy Beach Express - Closed
Bagel Boy announced that their Beach Express Location has closed. They are still working to open the new location for Bagel Boy in Foley. They will continue to operate at their location on Perdido Beach Blvd in Orange Beach.
New Hotel Coming to Romar Beach
A&R Hotel Group will be removing the former Romar Beach Baptist Church property on Perdido Beach Blvd and building an approxiately 100 room 6 story hotel.
The beachfront hotel will have rooms under 600 square feet. There will be a rooftop bar on the 6th floor.
Gulf Shores Beach Rescue Lifeguard Season Stats
2025 Beach Rescue Lifeguard Season by the Numbers:
- Prevention: 61,094 - Educating and preventing tragedy before it happens
- Rescues: 136 - Removal of a victim from the water who would not be able to make it to shore without assistance
- Major Medical Aid: 74 - Anything from fractures to cardiac arrest (usually requires transport).
- Minor Medical Aid: 7,329 - Simple bandaging, jelly fish stings, etc (usually doesn't require transport).
- Enforcement: 21,492 - Education and enforcing city ordinances.
- Contacts: 175,374 - Interactions with the public.
- Missing Person: 74 - Lost or found individuals separated from their family or party.

What's New in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach - 2025
Orange Beach - Building new 10,000 square foot training facility
Orange Beach is building a brand new 10,000 square foot training facility to help local firefighters. The new training center will have classrooms, and also serve as the new headquarters for the Surf Rescue Divisiion.
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo - New Red Wolves
Two new Red Wolves, named Jenkins and Walker, are now residents of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Their habitat is provides them space to remain as wild as possible.
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo - New Endangered Melanistic Leopard
Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo announced the arrival of Mystique, a melanistic Amur Leopard and the newest resident of the Zoo's big cat family.
Mystique is an 11-year-old, melanistic Amur leopard, meaning her coat is all black rather than the standard yellow and black. Her coat does still have spots, called rosettes, which are more visible in direct sunlight.
Mystique came from Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Mystique is proudly sponsored by Langston Animal Hospital, Dr. Adam Langston.
Last Mango Bar & Chill - New at The Wharf Spring 2026
Jimmy Buffett's Last Mango Bar & Chill is coming to The Wharf Spring 2026 in Marlin Circle! They will have a full-service indoor restaurant with space for entertainment and an outdoor bar.
This will be a great new addition to The Wharf, especially with the new Margaritaville Resort being built across the Intracoastal Waterway.
New Margaritaville Resort Orange Beach Sales Center - Coming Soon
They are building a new sales center off the Beach Express for the Margaritaville Resort Orange Beach Sales Center. They expect to open in early 2026.
Perdido Pass Dredging - Done
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is dredging Perdido Pass. They are pumpkin the sand to the west of the west jetty at Alabama Point. 50,000 Cubic Yards of sand was also dredged and placed on Bird Island.

Gulf Coast Wellness & Recovery Spa - Now Open

Hangout Fest will NOT Happen in 2026
The City of Gulf Shores announced that Hangout Fest and/or Sand in my Boots Festival will not return in 2026!
They are working on the 2027 festival in hopes of making it happen.
Library with Heart - Orange Beach Public Library
Bella Beach Properties and the American Heart Association of Alabama are launching the 1st Libraries with Heart program in Baldwin County at the Orange Beach Library.
Blood pressure kits will now be available for check out with a validated monitor, instructions, and resources for managing your health.
Perdido Beach Resort - Purchased by Nick Saban and Aurora Hospitality Partners
Perdido Beach Resort has been purchased by Aurora Hospitality Partners, which includes Nick and Terry Saban.
The resort is closed for on December and will re-open December 30, 2025.
Sand Shaker at The Wharf - Closing April 30, 2026
Sand Shaker at The Wharf posted on their Instagram that they will be closing on April 30, 2026.
Driftwood Oyster Bar - Opening 2026
The owners of Duck's Diner will be opening Driftwood Oyster Bar in January 2026 in the Flying Harpoon 2 building.
They will have oysters, po'boys, seafood, and wings along with live music.
ByWater Beachside - Closed until Spring 2026
ByWater Beachside on the Gulf State Park Pier has closed for the winter.

The owners of Portabella's Italian Restaurant in Foley are opening a new restaurant at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo where Savannah was located.
It sounds like the restaurant will have a global menu!
Martin & Rutledge Dentistry is now Rutledge Dental Group
Dr. Rutledge and Dr. Turner Shirley are still at Rutledge Dental Group. The name has changed but the great are is the same.

Gulf Shores Dog Park - Partial Closure 11/10 to 12/1
The Gulf Shores Dog Park is undergoing maintenance and will be partially closed. Starting November 10th, the small dog area and part of the large dog area will be closed for seeding with winter rye grass.
The entire dog park will be closed every Monday morning from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for maintenance.

Gulf State Park - New Mobility Devices
Gulf State Park recently acquired two new mobility devices for the park! They now have an Action Trackchair and a GRIT Freedom chair.

Saunders Yachtworks - Waterfront Development
Saunders Yachtworks announced on October 13, 2025 they have achieved a Marina permit milestone. They have joined an owner group to develop 30 acres along the Intercoastal Waterway next to their boatyard.
The project named "Two Harbors" will be a mixed use yacht-centered complex. The master plan includes a 32-slip marina designed for yachts 70 to 140 feet, along with a 36-slip boat lift marina for boats up to 40 feet.
The site will also include a new luxury hotel, select condominiums, a waterfront restaurant, and a yacht club. They will also be expanding their dry dock space, increasing covered work areas, and have additional in-water dockage.
Fresco in Bon Secour - Now open
Chef Greg Buschmohle is opening Fresco in Bon Secour! The resetaurant will have a fresh take on Italian Dining including house-made pasta, pizza, and take out from the Fresco Pantry!

Flora Bama Church Worship on Water is opening a Ministry Center in the old Sharky's/Live Bait restaurant building in Orange Beach.

A new O'Reilly Auto Parts is being built next to Cumberland Farms gas station on Highway 59.
Gulf State Park - New Executive Campground 2026
Gulf State Park has a brand new Executive Campground coming in 2026! The new campground is being built on the former golf course within the park.
The campground is being built in two phases with the 1st phase including 100 new campsites.
There will be a new entrance off Canal Road near the new overpass. Amenities will include a large pool, splash pad, pickleball courts, putting green, laundry area, event space, and so much more.
Tee Off at the Wharf - Open
Tee Off at The Wharf is an amazing new restaurant, bar, and TopGolf Swing Suite!
Chef Jonathan Kastner from Southern Chili Lab is the head chef, so you know the food is going to be great.
Tee Off at The Wharf's food is packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and a must try!
You have to try the Medianoche sandwich with braised pork and smoked ham!
The cocktails were unique and delicious! The White Russian Bushwacker is one of the best I have tried. It made our top Bushwacker in Orange Beach list!
They have Top Golf Swing Suites with a ton of different simulators. Family-friendly fun that is also great for groups or meetings.
We are already planning a return visit to watch football.
Gulf Babe Wine Boutique - Open
Gulf Babe Wine Boutique is open at The Wharf in the new Portside on Main area. They have a fantastic menu of wine cocktails, appetizers, and fun!
King Neptunes Gulf Shores - Closed
King Neptune's in Gulf Shores is closed. There are signs on the door that state the Baldwin County Courts have ordered the restaurant closed due to failure to remit sales tax.
Hooter's Gulf Shores - Reopened January 2026
Hooter's is closed until ??? for renovations.
Beach Blooms - Closed
Beach Blooms has re-opened at the Wharf with tons of fall flowers and pumpkins.
Bungalows Boutique at the Wharf - Closed
Bungalows Boutique at the Wharf is closing. They will still have a store in Foley and New Orleans. Make sure to check out their closing sale.
Free Will Beach Boutique - Closing store front for now
Free Will Beach Boutique in Gulf Shores will be closing their storefront on September 25th as they look for a new location.

Ed's Pizza - Closed
Ed's Pizza announced that they will be reopening at the end of October or Early November!
They are revamping a bit and will be open soon! Their hours will be Monday to Saturday 11 am to 9 pm.
Shrimpy's Gulf Shores - New enclosed seating
Shrimpy's Grill and Golf enclosed part of their outdoor deck so they now have a gorgeous new indoor seating area!
Gulf Shores City Store - Now open inside the Gulf Shores Museum
Gulf Shores City Store has expanded with a new location at the Gulf Shores Museum.

YoHo Rum & Tacos and The Boat Bar - Closed Moving to a new location
YoHo Rum & Tacos announced they are closing their current location at the Wharf as of September 23rd. They will be reopenig at a new location in the Wharf in March 2026.
The Salty Palm - Moved to Beach Bum Outdoors
The Salty Palm Boutique has announced that they are moving after the last 4 years in Orange Beach.
They haven't shared where the are moving to yet so make sure to visit them while they are still open in Orange Beach!
Springhill Suites Orange Beach - Open January 2026
The new Springhill Suites Orange Beach on Perdido Beach Blvd is moving along quickly. The sign says they are opening Fall 2025 but we have not seen any reservations open on the Marriott website yet.
They are working on the pool at the front of the property currently.
Embassy Suites Gulf Shores - New local pool passes
Embassy Suites Gulf Shores is offering local pool passes. Day passes are $20 per day for Gulf Shores & Orange Beach residents! $10 of that comes back in a food & drink credit.
Pool passes are available for weekdays starting September 15th.
Shore Fizz on Wheels - Now open
Shore Fizz has a brand new build your own dirty soda trailer that can be rented for events, and will be at local events also.
Alabama Sweet Tea Co. - Open at The Wharf
Alabama Sweet Tea Co. is opening at The Wharf this fall. We will update as we hear more about their opening date.

The Tap & Still Gulf Shores - Open
It looks like Gulf Shores is going to get The Tap & Still Restaurant, which has restaurants in St. Thomas, St. John, and Sint Maarten in the Caribbean. Their website says they are a burger, booze, and beer restaurant, as well as a casual Caribbean sports bar.
They are moving into the original High Tide Daiquiri Bar location off of Hwy 59 according to the address on their Facebook page.
We will share more info as we come across it.

Bagel Boy is now available inside Billy's Hot Dog on the Beach Express in Gulf Shores, across from the new High School.
They are open 6 am to 11 am with both drive-thru and dine-in options.

Nami Sushi will be opening at 25908 Canal Rd H in Orange Beach, where Bon Temps was next to Milkshake Momma and O'Choppers.

On April 2, Bubba's Seafood announced that they are closed. We all hoped it was an April Fool's Joke, but it looks like it's real.
We drove by the restaurant and they had a closed sign up with a thank you to their guests.

Cantina La Luz - Closed
Cantina La Luz announced on their Facebook Page that they are closed as of March 31, 2025. The Restaurant is now called El Ray Mexican Restaurant.

Chef Matt Ship is opening Shipp's Dockside Grill at the Orange Beach Marina in March 2025.
They are moving into what was Fisher's Dockside at the Marina. There will be casual counter service on the Lower Deck and Family Friendly full service meals on the upper deck in the evening.
The Lower Deck menu includes Gumbo, Bayou Blue Crab Dip, Pimento fried cheese, Tuna wontons, Hush Puppies, Smashburger, Ahi tuna sandwich, Shrimp po'boy, and more.

Gulf Coast Eco Center
Construction on the Gulf Coast Eco Center is getting close to completion! The Gulf Coast Eco Center is focused on sustainability and environmental education.
I am super excited to see the two 38-foot chimney swift towers that have been constructed to create a nesting space for the birds.
The Eco Center has a Welcome Center (camp store, meeting rooms), Bike Hub, Trailside pavilion event hall, Potting shed teaching farm, The Lookout Adventure Course, all opening in Spring 2025 in Gulf Shores
Summer 2025, they will be hosting Gulf Camp summer day camp with biking, kayaking, arts & crafts, beach & swim, plus the Aerial adventure course for kids ages 10+.
Highway 59 Construction
They are currently working in the middle of Hwy 59, creating dedicated turn lanes along with landscaped islands with palm trees.
The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Gulf Shores Airport
The first Allegiant Airlines Flight arrived in Gulf Shores on May 21st. They are currently working on road improvements to reach the new terminal.
The airport has two letters of intent from other carriers at this time, including Sun Country and Elite Airlines. They do not have service set up at this time, but have said they are interested.
Embassy Suites by Gulf Place - Now Open
The new Embassy Suites by Gulf Place is now open! The hotel has an outdoor pool with views of the Gulf, onsite restaurants, Starbucks coffee shop, valet parking, and so much more. Check out the rates here
Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Center - Now Open
The Alabama Gulf Coast Sport Center will include 12 pickleball courts (indoor and outdoor), 4 indoor gymnasiums, and outdoor volleyball courts.
Gulf Shores High School
The new Gulf Shores High School should be completed for Fall 2026. The existing Gulf Shores High School will become the middle school. The elementary school will then take over the middle school.
There will be a great new performing art center at the new high school.
Laguna Cove Restoration Project
The City of Gulf Shores is working on a Laguna Cove Restoration project with a completion goal of 2026. The project will include nature trails, boardwalks, interpretive panels, and an ADA kayak launch off of West Beach Blvd.
Ed's Pizza - Gulf Shores - Closed - For sale
It look's like Ed's Pizza "It's Chicago Time" is replacing the Surfside Pizza location in Gulf Shores near the Ugly Diner. The interior of the restaurant has been painted red and they are doing work on the inside.
We haven't seen a menu or any information for the new Gulf Shores pizza restaurant yet.
Sunliner Diner - New Restaurant in Orange Beach - now Open
They have broken ground and started construction on the new Sunliner Diner in Orange Beach. It is near Cotton's Steakhouse across from the Cotton Bayou Beach Access parking lot.
NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship - Returning to Gulf Shores
NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship is returning to Gulf Shores this year. Due to the fires in Southern California, the event has been moved back to Gulf Place Beach on May 2-4, 2025.
Gulf Shores will host the National Championships from 2026 through 2031.
Phoenix South Point - Orange Beach
Phoenix South Point is currently under construction on Perdido Beach Blvd in Orange Beach, just down CoastAL. It will be a 22-story condo complex with 66 units. The units will include 3, 4, and 5 bedroom options.
Springhill Suites Hotel - Orange Beach - now Open
A Springhill Suites Hotel is being built next to Doc's Seafood and Steak on Perdido Beach Blvd in Orange Beach.
The hotel will be seven stories with 120 rooms.
Tapestry Orange Beach - Being Built
Tapestry, a luxury apartment complex, is being built near the Orange Beach Walmart on Perdido Beach Boulevard. The complex will have two four-story buildings and 146 units, including one, two, and three-bedroom options.
Orange Beach Islands - Restoration Work
The City of Orange Beach and The Nature Conservancy are doing restoration work on Robinson Island and Walker Island.
Robinson Island will have just over seven acres added to it with three acres of marsh, three acres of dune habitat, and an acre of subtidal habitat underwater sand shoal.
Walker Island will include an additional four acres of subtidal shoals, five acres of shrub-scrub habitat, and an acre of higher upland area on the west side. On the east side of the island, they will add another acre of marsh, 1 acre of subtidal shoals, three acres of uplands, and eight acres of scrub-shrub habitat.
Phoenix Key - Perdido Key
Phoenix Key is being built on Perdido Key just past the Ono Island Bridge on the Gulf side of the island. The 25-story building will include 56 condo units with 4, 5, or 6 bedrooms.
Solis Condominium - Orange Beach
Solis Condominium is being built in Orange Beach next to Cotton Bayou Beach Access. The 24-story condo building will include 132 units with 2, 3, 4, or 5 bedrooms.
Caribe Seaside - Orange Beach
Caribe Seaside is being built on the other side of Cotton Bayou Beach Access. The 30-story condo building will have 115 units with either 3 or 5 bedrooms.
ABACO - Orange Beach
ABACO in Orange Beach is being built off of Canal Road in phases. The total complex will include 6 five-level buildings with a total of 259 units. The units will have 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms. Phase 1 will have 54 units.
New Justice Center - Gulf Shores
The Gulf Shores City Council has awarded a contract to transform the former Sacred Heart Medical Office building into a new justice center.
The new center will bring together Gulf Shores PD, Municipal courts, and the jail in one modern complex. The project is set to be completed summer of 2026.

Gulf Shores Pedestrian Bridge - Approved
The City of Gulf Shores has approved funding for a contract to build a pedestrian bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway.
The new pedestrian bridge will be in the Waterway Village area which the city is planning to be an entertainment area. The area includes Tacky Jacks Gulf Shores, Acme Oyster House, Big Beach Brewing and Galway Public House on the south side and LuLu's Gulf Shores on the North Side.
Construction will start in the Spring of 2025 and hopefully be complete by the Spring of 2027. The bridge will be 72 feet above the water. They will barge the single-span bridge and lift it up onto the supports.
Flo & Glo IV Wellness Lounge - Now open
It looks like a new Flo & Glo IV - Wellness Lounge is opening in the same area as Island Wing Company Gulf Shores.
Accordig to the Daphne locations website they offer red light therapy, detox foot baths, spray tans, and infusions. They have monthly membership plans along with one time visit appointments.

New Orange Beach Turtle Recovery Facility in 2025
A new Turtle Recovery Center will be built in Orange Beach in 2025. The facility will not be open to the public.
The facility will cut down the time that injured turtles have to wait for medical care. Currently, they have to be transported to the Gulfarium in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Cosmos Restaurant & Bar - New Sushi Menu

Construction is underway on a 73 room four story Cobblestone Hotel and Suites at the Northeast corner of Miflin Road and Koniar Way.

The Baldwin County Historic Development Commission and Friends of Swift-Coles announced a new project at the Swift-Coles Historic Home in Bon Secour.
They will be adding an event pavilion on the grounds of the home. This event pavilion with be perfect for weddings, celebrations, and private group events.
New Gulf State Park Land in Fort Morgan
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources purchased 79 acres of undeveloped beachfront land next to the Beach Club Resort in Fort Morgan.
This new park land includes over a half-mile of beachfront and dune habitats when combined with land purchased in 2018.
Bealls Home Store - Now Open
Bealls Home Store has leased the former Bed Bath and Beyond in Pelican Place shopping center off of Highway 59.
It is located near Target, The Yard Milkshake Bar, Bleus Burgers, Gourmet World Market, and Tuscany Italian Restaurant.

Gulf Coast Zoo welcomes Clint Eatswood, A Northern America Beaver
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo welcomed their newest addition to WILD (Wildlife Interpretive and Learning Department) ambassador team - North American Beaver, Clint Eatswood.
Clint the Beaver is learning to meet people during brief walks through the z00 and spending time in the South American Adventure Yard for swimming time.
Clint Eatswood's punny name was chosen by the staff at the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, and he will fit right in with Lucille Ball, the three-banded armadillo, Kevin Bacon the domestic pig, Blake Shellton, the tortoise, and all his other animal ambassador friends.
The zoo is accepting donations to help build a new exhibit for Clint Eatswood.
In July, The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo also welcomed two female cheetahs named Taj and Shani. They will be residents of the zoo for approximately six months.

Margaritaville Resort - The Wharf in Orange Beach
A brand new Margaritaville Resort will be built across the Intracoastal Waterway from The Wharf! The new resort will include a luxury waterfront condominiums, hotel-style resort space, single-family resort cottages, along with the Waterfront District.
The Waterfront District will include dining, retail, and boat parking. There will be a ferry available to move back and forth between The Wharf and new Margaritaville Orange Beach Resort.
Margaritaville Resort Orange Beach is set to break ground this fall with construction of the Waterfront District beginning summer of 2025 and the first phase of the resort opening 2027. The full resort is set to be complete by spring of 2029.
The project will include 354 rental units with 160 units in a condo-hotel, 49 traditional condos, 97 resort cottages, and 48 resort bungalows.
They are planning an arcade, pickleball courts, banquet and meeting spaces. and more.
Bahama Buck's Orange Beach - OPEN
Bahama Buck's Original Shaved Ice Company opened in the Orange Beach Publix Shopping Center, just down from Ristorante Carmelo.
Bahama Buck's offers over 100 original gourmet flavors and toppings for their light and airy shaved ice creations.
TK Interiors Orange Beach - Open
A new interior design studio and furniture store is opening Saturday, August 24th in Orange Beach.
They are opening in the Orange Beach Publix Shopping Center at 25757 Perdido Beach Blvd, unit B6.
Duck's Diner Gulf Shores - Open
Duck's Diner has opened a new restaurant in Gulf Shores. They purchased Hazel's Nook and updated the restaurant to fit their needs.
The old buffet has been removed and replaced with a long counter for customers to dine at. They are serving all of their Orange Beach location favorites.
We stopped in this past week and had a fantastic meal. So excited to have them in Gulf Shores along with Orange Beach.
Coastal Art Center Best of the Vets Contest
Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach is accepting submissions from military veterans living in Baldwin County and Escambia County Florida for their Best of the Vets Gulf Coast Art Contest and Exhibit.
Contest categories include clay, digital media/photography, metal, mixed media, painting, pencil/graphite, poetry, traditional photography, wood, and sculpture.
The entries will be on exhibit at the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach from November 8 to the 22nd.
Gulf Shores International Airport begins construction of commercial terminal
Construction will begin this month for the new commercial terminal at Gulf Shores International Airport. This will be the first time commercial flights will be available in Baldwin County once the construction is complete.
We are eagerly awaiting more information and updates on the airlines and destinations that will be available for flights to/from Gulf Shores.
New Glamping Tents in Gulf State Park - Open
Timberline Glamping is building Young's Hideaway in Gulf State Park. The glamping sites are located right next to the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail with easy access from East Beach Blvd.
The Safari Tents come with their own bathroom ensuite and different bed set ups. They have deluxe Safari Tent - 1 King Bed + 2 Bunk Beds or Double Safari Tent with 2 queen beds.
Each of the safari tents has an HVAC system with heating and air conditioning, sink, shower, and toilet along with a Keurig coffee maker, mini-fridge, rugs, lamps, outlets to charge devices, and more.
Outside you will find a firepit with cooking grate, string lights, 2 camp chairs, and a picnic table.
Hotel Rain - New Boutique Hotel coming to Gulf Shores
Hotel Rain is being developed in the current Kaiser Building at 1557 Gulf Shores Parkway. The Aqua Suites property will be a three story 49 unit hotel featuring a courtyard pool with swim up bar and cabanas, a cocktail lounge, spa and fitness room.

If you have been to Gulf Place Beach in the past few months, you may have noticed the large crane and construction happening right now.
They are building a new 257 all-suites resort that will hopefully be open by the summer of 2025. The eight story full service resort will offer 257 guestrooms with beachfront views, a lobby bar and restaurant, rooftop terrace, pool and outdoor entertainment space, a ballroom, meeting space, and more.
They are also building a three story parking garage and retail space.
As of the end of October 2024 they capped the roof and placed the final steel beam. The crane has been removed and they are working on the sides of the hotel.
Graham Creek Nature Preserve - Rentable Kayaks
Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley announced on FB that they now have rentable kayaks. All you have to do to rent the kayaks is download an app and scan the QR code on the kayak locker.
You will be able to rent the kayaks using your phone and pick up a paddle and lifejacket for your rental. This is a great way to get out on the water.
The kayak rentals are $20 for a 2-hour rental.
Live Bait Restaurant in Orange Beach is now Sharky's Seafood Restaurant
Live Bait Restaurant is now Sharky's Seafood Restaurant. The back building is still Live Bait Night Club.
From what we have read this Sharky's Restaurant is not affiliated with the Sharky's Beachfront in Panama City Beach.
We have not made it into the restaurant yet to check out their menu or updates.
The Tiki is now the Tiki & Raw Bar by Barometer
The Tiki Bar at Safe Harbor Sportsman is now the Tiki & Raw Bar by Barometer. In July it was announced that new owners from Nashville are making improvements to the restaurant.
They have updated the menu, enhancing live music, serving new drinks and creating a new loyalty program.
The new food menu includes oysters, tuna poke, fish & chips, fried shrimp basket, Mahi Mahi island tacos, smoked tuna dip, grouper sandwich, Nashville hot chicken, Caribbean pork nachos, a cheeseburger, Hawaiian flatbread, Italian Flatbread, and a kid's menu.
We have not made it into the restaurant yet to check out the new menu and drinks. We will update our post as soon as we make it in.
Down South Kitchen Restaurant - closed
Down South Kitchen has opened across the street from Big Beach Brewing and Pelican Scoop Ice Cream.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner serving southern comfort food.
They are open at 2420 E 2nd Street, Gulf Shores
