    Fort Morgan, Alabama, is located just a short drive down the road from Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. It is a great area for enjoying beach time, relaxing while watching dolphins, and enjoying the breeze off of the Gulf of Mexico.

    There are tons of great things to do in Fort Morgan, Alabama or you can choose to do nothing at all!

    One of the best parts of planning a Gulf Coast vacation is being able to decide what level of activity you want to enjoy.

    There are tons of attractions, Fort Morgan restaurants, and fun things to do in the area for locals, tourists, and guests.

    Fort Morgan Beach

    The white sand beaches of Fort Morgan are world-class! Soak in the beach sounds as waves gently crash onto the shore.

    Watch for migratory birds that fly into Fort Morgan, look for fun shells, or read a great book.

    Fort Morgan Beach is perfect for the entire family. The beach in Fort Morgan is one of the few areas that is dog-friendly.

    Fort Morgan Historic Site

    Fort Morgan Historic Site offers the opportunity for adults and kids to learn more about the Battle of Mobile Bay, wander through a Civil War Era star fortification, and learn more about history along the Gulf of Mexico.

    Fort Morgan is a Third System masonry fort built between 1819 and 1833. Historic Fort Morgan played a significant role in the Battle of Mobile Bay in August 1864.

    It was used in the Spanish American War, World War I, and World War II. Today visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a diverse number of activities including bird watching, relaxing at the picnic area, wandering the fort grounds, checking out the beach, and exploring nature areas.

    Mobile Bay Ferry to Dauphin Island

    Hop on the Dauphin Island Ferry right next to Historic Fort Morgan and enjoy a leisurely boat ride over to the island.

    Dauphin Island is home to Fort Gaines, gorgeous beaches, The Lighthouse Bakery, and great restaurants.

    Play Golf

    Enjoy the beautiful Gulf Coast weather while playing a round of golf at either Kiva Dunes or the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club.

    Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge

    Nature enthusiasts will love Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge! It is the perfect place to enjoy a walk on the Jeff Friend Trail, kayaking, seeing new bird species, an exploring nature trails.

    Bon Secour offers the amazing opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest.

    Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge consists of approximately 7,000 acres of coastal lands, ranging from constantly changing beach dunes to rolling pine-oak woodlands.

    The refuge visitor center is located at 12295 State Highway 180 (Fort Morgan Road). They have great information on the local flora and fauna found in the park.

     

    Navy Cove Oyster Farm

    Have you ever wanted to learn about oyster farming? Navy Cove Oyster Farm is located in Fort Morgan. They offer amazing eco-tours where you can wade into the water wearing waders and get an up close look at oyster farming.

    Enjoy all you can eat oysters, live music, arts and crafts, family fun, and more! Sample your way through an AYCE feast of Navy Cove and Admiral Shellfish oysters served right to your plate from Fort Morgan waters.

    Grilled, stewed, or straight from the shell, they will have flavors for every oyster fix, including Charbroiled, Rockefeller, Garlic Butter, Bearnaise, and "Bacon me crazy."

    Fort Morgan Fishing Pier

    The new Fort Morgan Pier is perfect for fishing, watching sunset, enjoying great bird watching, or watching the ferry go by.

    It is a short accessible walk out on to the pier and there are great benches for relaxing.

    This is one of our favorite places to watch sunrise or sunset in Fort Morgan.

    There is a boat launch next to the pier.

    The Creamery & Arcade

    The Creamery is located at The Beach Club and open to the public. The entire family will love the hand-dipped ice cream, sundaes, and more!

    Next door at the Hideaway they have a fantastic arcade and games for the entire family!

    Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a great sand castle? Sand Castle University offers private classes in Fort Morgan.

    They will meet your group and teach you how to make an amazing sand castle.

    Fort Morgan Road Trail

    The Fort Morgan Road Trail is a paved trail that travels next to Highway 180. The paved trail goes through tree lined neighborhoods and ends at the Peninsula Golf Club.

    There are fantastic wooden swings along the trail. It is a great place to enjoy a leisurely walk.

    There is parking available at the eastern end of the trail at Lagoon Park.

    Things to Do Near Fort Morgan

    Fort Morgan, Alabama is close to so many great attractions and things to do. It is an easy drive into Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Foley, Fairhope, or even over to Mobile.

    These are some of our favorite things to do near Fort Morgan. All of these are quick and easy day trips. Enjoy a fun adventure while exploring the Alabama Gulf Coast.

    Dauphin Island Aquarium

    The Dauphin Island Aquarium, officially known as the Alabama Aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is a must-visit.

    You may also see it listed as the Mobile Bay Estuarium. While there are many names for the aquarium the best thing to know is it is honestly amazing!

    Enjoy a self-guided tour through amazing exhibits that showcase the marine life of Mobile Bay and the Gulf Coast.

    Fort Gaines

    Historic Fort Gaines is one of the top things to do on Dauphin Island, Alabama! Step back in time and learn more about Civil War history and the Gulf Coast.

    Gulf State Park

    If you are looking for more outdoor fun head back into Gulf Shores and enjoy Gulf State Park.

    This unbelievable Alabama State Park has beach access, hiking trails, bike rentals, camping, and so much more!

    Keep an eye out for alligators including Lefty the Alligator, birds, and other wildlife in the park.
