The Ugly Diner
This local diner has a great atmosphere and is a hidden gem in the heart of Gulf Shores. High-quality food paired with great service will make you want to plan a return visit.
Plus, you will want to visit multiple times so you have time to check out all of the wall art and signs. We had so much fun giggling over the pictures and signage.
This little diner is a must-visit! The friendly staff had us laughing and soaking in the good atmosphere of being on the Gulf Coast.
Our server was truly fantastic. He shared great information on the area and answered many of our questions about living in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
We are already talking about what we will order on our next visit. I definitely want to try the pancakes. My husband LOVES their cheeseburger.
If you talk to locals this is the place to go for great breakfast dishes. Living in Gulf Shores we find ourselves driving over to The Ugly Diner frequently.
Indoor Seating
There are a few options for interior seating including plush booths or a wall bench with tables and wooden chairs.
The restaurant is not big so you will want to plan time if you want to eat inside on a busy morning.
Outdoor Seating

Menu Highlights - It is hard to pick just a few highlights we enjoyed everything we have tried.
Shrimp and Grits - Gulf Shrimp, Bacon, Tomatoes, Chives, specialty sauce with creamy gouda grits.
Biscuits and Gravy - How can you go wrong with 2 biscuits smothered in house made gravy.
Country Fried Steak and Eggs - 2 eggs, country fried steak, home fries, and toast.
Mr. Jim's Peach Cobbler French Toast - Hot French Toast with peach sauce, cobbler crumbs and whipped cream. This tastes like breakfast dessert and is so good!
Pork Chop Breakfast - 2 eggs, pork chop, home fries, and toast.
They have so many epic omelet options including cheese omelette, Denver omelet, Ham and Cheese, Shrimp and Crab omelet, or veggie. Extra omelet toppings include bell pepper, jalapeno, mushroom, feta cheese, spinach, tomato, onion, sausage, bacon, or ham.
For lunch some of the highlights include
Steve's Famous Burger - two ½ pound burger patties, American and Swiss cheese, Sauteed mushrooms, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion. Served with French fries and a pickle.
This is the top burger on our best burgers in Gulf Shores List!! It's so good.
Banh Mi Sandwich - Pork, cilantro, cucumber, pickled radish, pickled carrots, jalapenos, and special sauce.
Chicken salad melt - House made chicken salad, melted Swiss cheese on Texas toast.
You can't go wrong with the Grilled Chicken sandwich, tuna melt, BLT, Reuben sandwiches, or patty melt. So many epic choices.
Kids Menu - The kids menu includes a hamburger, chicken tenders, or grilled cheeses served with fries or vegetables.
Gluten-Free - They have salads, grilled chicken, omelets, and soups. Make sure to check with the server to confirm there is no gluten.
Vegan - The best option is most likely a salad or a veggie side.
Vegetarian - They have salads, veggie omelet, grilled cheese, and vegetable sides.
