2025 was the 50th anniversary of the Bushwacker along the Alabama Gulf Coast. This feels like the perfect reason to celebrate with a frozen, delicious Bushwacker.
When it comes to choosing who makes the best Bushwacker in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama, it is honestly a matter of personal preference, but we are here to help with tips on our favorite places!
If you ask locals in the area, they will happily tell you who has their favorite Bushwacker. This is a heated debate, especially in the Alabama Gulf Coast summer heat, when we all need a frosty beverage to cool off.
What Makes a Classic Bushwacker
One thing to know is that the Bushwacker isn't just a frozen cocktail! You will also find Bushwacker adult milkshakes, tiramisu, coffee, and more in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach.
Original Bushwackers include Dark Rum, Coffee Liqueur (Kahlua), Creme de Cacao, vanilla ice cream, Cream of Coconut, and Chocolate Syrup. While the Bushwacker was invented in the US Virgin Islands the Alabama Gulf Coast has adopted this frosty beverage as their drink mascot.

Cobalt's Bushwacker is a blend of Cruzan Coconut Rum, coffee liqueur, dark Créme de Cocoa, and hand-scooped vanilla bean ice cream. You can add a 151 Rum or Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey floater.

Pirates Cove: Classic Recipe with 151 Rum Float
Pirates Cove's Bushwacker is a mix of Kahlua, Malibu Rum, vanilla ice cream blended with some ice before adding a Cruzan Rum 151 float on top.

Tacky Jack's Gulf Shores has a great board that tracks the number of Bushwackers that have been sold in a year. When we visited they had already sold over 24,000 Bushwackers.

DeSoto's Triple Threat: Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel & Pecan Praline
DeSoto's is always a good idea! Throw in one of their Bushwackers with a Salted Caramel Float and you are in for an amazing meal!
Desoto's Bushwackers are available in peanut butter, salted caramel, and pecan praline! You can get a Bushwacker in a souvenir turtle cup or a hurricane cup.

Shrimp Basket has its original Bushwacker along with seasonal-flavored Bushwackers. I am really hoping they bring back the banana pudding bushwacker and the Peanut Butter Bushwacker they highlighted this year.
