You do not want to miss this family-owned Gulf Shores Ice Cream shop! Yumm Twister and Ice Cream serves amazing milkshakes, cones, premium Italian gelato, and sundaes that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything on the menu looked amazing. From specialty milkshakes loaded with toppings to signature gelato cones that are almost too pretty to eat, the variety and creativity on display make every visit exciting.
This is the first time we have seen twister cones (also known as chimney cake or kürtőskalács) in the United States. We first enjoyed a version of them in Budapest, Hungary, and were hoping to find them near us.
Enter Yumm Twister and Ice Cream, and our twister cone and gelato dreams have come true. Finding authentic European pastries combined with Italian gelato in Gulf Shores, Alabama was an unexpected delight.

This is one of our favorite spots for an afternoon sweet treat. The combination of authentic Italian ice cream and authentic European pastries always puts me in a good mood.

Indoor Seating
Indoor seating includes a comfy couch, stools along a counter-height bar, and tables with plastic chairs. The seating variety means you can choose the most comfortable option for your group size and preference.
Be prepared. The fresh baked bread smell is amazing. When the twister cones are baking, the aroma of sweet dough fills the entire shop, creating an irresistible atmosphere that makes you hungry even if you just ate. That scent of fresh-baked pastry is part of the Yumm Twister experience.
Outdoor Seating
There is lots of outdoor seating in front of the restaurant, perfect for enjoying a fun treat. The outdoor tables let you soak up the Gulf Shores weather while eating your gelato or milkshake. On beautiful spring or fall days, outdoor seating provides the perfect setting for Instagram photos and people-watching.

You can order individual scoops of gelato in regular cones or waffle cones, or go all out with one of their signature creations. The signature gelato cones and specialty milkshakes are the stars of the menu, featuring elaborate combinations that turn dessert into an experience.

Strawberry-Licious signature gelato cone - Strawberry gelato and strawberry sorbet, chocolate dipped twister cone, fresh strawberries, strawberry biscuit sticks, and chocolate sauce.
Sophisticated Gelato Cone - Salted caramel and vanilla gelato, chocolate-dipped homemade twister cone, gold sprinkles, chocolate thing, and caramel sauce.
Birthday Cake signature gelato cone - Birthday cake and vanilla gelato, chocolate-dipped homemade twister cake cone, sprinkles, strawberry sauce, and a mini cupcake!
Tiramisu signature cone - Tiramisu and coffee gelato, chocolate dipped homemade twister cone, ladyfinger and coffee syrup.
If you are not into the twister pastry cone don't worry they also offer regular cones and waffle cones.
Kids Menu - Kids will love all of the delicious ice cream options on the menu.
Gluten-Free - Enjoy a cup of Authentic Italian ice cream, banana splits, or a sundae.
Vegan - They offer dairy free options including strawberry sorbet, mango sorbet, blood orange sorbet, raspberry sorbet, and the hand-crafted twister cones.
Vegetarian - All of the options we saw were vegetarian.

Are twister cones baked fresh? Yes! Twister cones are hand-crafted and baked fresh in-house. That's why the shop smells amazing. The fresh-baked bread aroma is part of the experience.
Are twister cones gluten-free? No, twister cones are made from wheat dough and contain gluten. However, you can enjoy all the gelato flavors in a cup if you need gluten-free options.

Accessibility - There is a ramp onto the side walk and open space within the restaurant.
Plus Size Seating - There is a comfy couch along with plastic chairs with no arms available to sit at inside. Outside there is metal chairs that have arms.
Dress Code/Suggestions - Casual. Beach attire, shorts, and flip-flops are perfectly acceptable.
Pets - Pets are not allowed inside the restaurant. Service animals are always welcome. Outdoor seating is a great spot to enjoy treats with your dog at the tables outside.
Parking - There is a large parking area in front of the restaurant.
