Fall is the perfect time to plan a romantic getaway to Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama! The weather is gorgeous, there are great date night options, and so many places to cuddle up and enjoy the view.

I may be a bit biased living in Gulf Shores, but there is nothing better than cuddling up together on a balcony watching the Gulf. Before we moved to Gulf Shores we would count down the days to our next romantic getaway to the beach.

Getting away from the day to day stresses of life and finding new adventures together, enjoying delicious food, and breathing the salty beach air gave us time to re-connect and create new memories. So much so that we ended up moving across country to live here full time but that's a story for another day.

Today we are talking about planning the perfect Fall romantic getaway itinerary! A huge thank you to Visit Alabama's Beaches for sponsoring today's article and inspiring us to get out and do more together.

With amazing direct flights from Allegiant Airlines to Gulf Shores Airport, a getaway is easier than ever.

Day 1 - Arrival, Gulf front dinner & Sunset

Check in and drop your bags off, change into comfy casual beach clothes and head to a local Gulf Shores & Orange Beach restaurant with a waterfront view.

Great casual waterfront restaurants include The Gulf, GT's on the Bay, and Mile Marker 158 Dockside or the new Last Mango Bar & Chill.

A tiny bit more upscale date nitght vibe but still the beach vibe include CoastAL, Perch, Coast Restaurant, and Cobalt.

Check the local sunset time so you can get a great selfie together on the beach after dinner.

If you feel like exploring more of the area, check out one of our great local bars with live music, including the Flora-Bama that has live music every night.

Day 2 - Beach walk, Dolphin Adventures, and great local food

Start the morning with a beach walk to see sunrise...or sleep in and cuddle up on the balcony when you decide to crawl out of bed. If you need a bit of caffeine to kick of the day, we have fantastic local coffee shops.

When you decide you are ready head out to a great Gulf Shores or Orange Beach breakfast restaurant. If you are visiting on the weekend we have fantastic Sunday brunch options.

One of my favorite romantic getaway adventures is a dolphin cruise. There is something magical about being out on the water and spending time together looking for our local Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. It is one part thrilling when they leap out of the water and one part super chill enjoying the views as you cruise around the water.

If getting out on the water is not your vibe, don't worry we have a Fall bucket list filled with fun ways to spend time in the area.

For lunch, head to the new Tap & Still Restaurant in Gulf Shores. Super casual island vibe with great burgers (don't skip getting the funnel cake).

Spend the afternoon finding the perfect souvenir from a local gift shop or boutique. We highly suggest taking a photo in the sharks mouth at Souvenir City in Gulf Shores. It is the perfect spot to take a photo at every time you are in town to remember your beach getaways.

Afternoons are the perfect time to find a sweet treat to enjoy together. We are big fans of Mythic Beach Banana Bar, Bahama Buck's, and our great local Gulf Shores and Orange Beach ice cream shops.

Head back to the room to drop off any souvenirs and get ready for a romantic date night in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. We have so many great local date night options ranging from casual to upscale depending on the vibe you are looking for.

After dinner, spend time relaxing on your balcony, walk the beach, or head out to find the best bushwacker in the area.

Day 3 - Beach time, Spa Time, Art Time or ...

Kick off the day with a great breakfast before deciding how active you want the day to be....

We recently did a spa morning date with breakfast at The Hideaway, followed by a couples pedicure at The Spa at the Beach Club. It was so relaxing and fun.

Our toes looked amazing; we relaxed in the massage chairs and savored cups of The Hideaway's small-batch coffee, roasted on-site. They have cute new bags of their coffee, perfect to bring home as a reminder of your romantic beach getaway.

If you want a more active day, head over to Amberjack E-Bike Rentals and pick up a great e-bike or e-trike to explore Gulf State Park. Fall is the perfect time to explore the park.

If you love art, head over to the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach and take one of their amazing glass blowing, ceramics, or art classes. It doesn't get much hotter than blowing glass in the hot shop together.

If you are ready to do nothing but soak in the gorgeous Fall weather on the Alabama Gulf Coast, head to a local beach for the day. You can always take a Sand Castle University Class and learn to make an epic sand castle together.

One of the best things about planning a romantic getaway on Alabama's Beaches is there are options for every type of trip.
