Located on the main drag in Gulf Shores, you can't miss the pink exterior of this beach bar! Imagine walking into Barbie's wardrobe; that is how pink the exterior of the bar is. LOL! Yes, fresh bubble gum pink, just like a Pepto bottle.
This unique Gulf Shores beach front restaurant has been a staple in the community since the 1950s. They have survived Hurricane Frederic and Ivan and the rise of condos and spring breakers.
The original Pink Pony Pub was washed away during Hurricane Frederic in 1957. Don't worry; they rebuilt and still have the epic pink exterior.
Even with the ordinance Gulf Shores enacted in 1957 that states its illegal “for any hurricane to enter in, upon, across or over the corporate limits of the Town of Gulf Shores, its police jurisdiction, or the air/space above it.” hurricanes have made an impact on the Pink Pony but it keeps coming back.
This is the place to hear " Sweet Home Alabama" from the band while watching an epic sunset over the Gulf with an ice-cold beverage in hand!
Enjoy the slim dance floor with friends, belly-up-to the bar and order a Bushwacker, or savor the views of long miles of beach from the deck.
You may even get the opportunity to enjoy some Karaoke with your new friends at this epic Gulf Shore nightlife destination (until 10 pm).

History of the Pink Pony Pub
The restaurant and bar were originally part of the Calloway family's Seahorse Cottages back in the 1950s. Bruce Mernik's parents purchased the Seahorse Cottages.
Bruce Mernik was a carpenter by trade. Bruce's mother, Marybelle Mernik gave the pub the name keeping with the Seahorse brand.
The pub was a neighborhood bar for over a decades.
Despite an ordinance by Gulf Shores making it illegal “for any hurricane to enter in the corporate limits of the Town of Gulf Shores, its police jurisdiction, or the air/space above it,” 1957’s Hurricane Frederic slammed the Gulf Coast, washing away the original Pink Pony and the old wooden pier.
The penalty is a fine of $1 to $100, or six months of Hard Labor.
At press time, spokespersons for Hurricane Frederic, Ivan, Dennis and others offered simply: “no comment.”
Family vacationers now return year after year celebrating this neighborhood-type bar right on the Gulf Coast.
Gulf Shores is much more than the fish shacks that used to dot the coastline now. The Pink Pony Pub is a reminder that we can all persevere even with illegal hurricanes and things that come into our lives.
