Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen at OWA
****CLOSED AS OF JANUARY 3, 2024****
Paula Deen's Family Kitchen at OWA was closed on January 3, 2024. OWA has stated that a new entertainment venue will replace the restaurant by the summer of 2024. We will keep you updated on any new update we hear.
One unique thing to know about Paula Deen's Family Kitchen is you pay per person based on one of three different meal options.
The meal options come with a minimum of 2 family meals and 4 side dishes. You can also upgrade to 3 or 4 family meals depending on how many things you want to try.
The food is brought out all together and served family style. You can get refills on anything you want but there are NO to go bags.
You can only enjoy the food onsite they don't have the option of taking leftovers home except for choosing if you want to take dessert to go.
There is the option of enjoying dessert in the restaurant or taking it to go.
Indoor Seating
There is a combination of booths and tables on two levels with a ramp between them. The seating area is really comfortable with some tables having a view of the water.
Paula Deen's Family Kitchen Foley Menu
There are seven different Deen Home Dishes to choose from for the primary meat and then eleven of Paula's famous side dishes.
The meal starts with the most amazing herb buttered biscuits! Honestly, these biscuits are packed with flavor and beyond delicious.
Down Home Dishes
Best Ever Southern Fried Chicken - specially seasoned hand-breaded chicken, fried crispy and golden. (Favorite)
Beef Pot Roast - Slow roasted, shredded, and ladled over buttered white rice
Chicken-fried pork chop - Boneless tender pork coated with seasoned flour, fried golden, then drizzled with gravy.
Spare Ribs - Slow roasted pork ribs smothered in a tangy barbecue sauce.
Chicken & Dumplings - Tender pulled chicken with hand-rolled dumplings that simmered in a savory chicken gravy.
Fried Catfish - Catfish lightly fried with a flour and cornmeal breading.
Paula's Shrimp n Grits - Blackened Gulf Shrimp served with southern cheese grits and a Tasso ham Creole gravy. (Favorite)
Paula's Famous Sides
Green Beans (with bacon), Creamed Potatoes, Collards Greens, Fresh Candied Yams, Creamed Corn (the best), Cole Slaw, Poppyseed Tossed Salad (so good), Buttered white rice, Baked Mac and Cheese (skip), Cheddar Grits, and Fried Okra.
The most delicious side dishes we had were the salad and creamed corn. I would go back just for them.
Plus, there are three dessert options including ooey gooey butter cake, banana pudding, and a seasonal cobbler.
Menu Highlights
Kids Menu - Kids ages 5 to 10 eat for a discount price. They enjoy the same meal as the entire family.
Gluten-Free - The shrimp and grits would most likely be the best choice but I would confirm with the restaurant while you are there what the options are.
Vegan - Side salad without dressing is the best option.
Vegetarian - The options include creamed corn, salad, mac and cheese
