The Hangout in Gulf Shores can't be missed at the end of Hwy 59! You can hear the DJ from the beach or when you drive by the restaurant.

This Gulf Shores beachside restaurant has great live music, signature cocktails, and beer, and so much more.

The perfect place to celebrate your beach vacation or relax on a Saturday afternoon.

The Hangout offers full-service dining right on the water. Is it the best food in Gulf Shores...honestly no.

Is it great live entertainment for the entire family...defiantly. Their cocktails are fantastic, the vibe is so much fun, and the view is great.

The food is just ok. I wish I could say it was the best in town but sadly our experience has been just ok for food.

That being said the foam party is hilarious and kids love it!

There is a gift shop filled with fun souvenirs, t-shirts, and more. Retail shopping next to the beach is always fun on vacation!

Indoor Seating

One of my favorite parts of the restaurant is all the toys and gadgets reimagined to be art on the walls.

The chairs are super comfortable, and the breeze coming in from off the beach is amazing.

I find myself looking around non-stop to see what is decorating the walls.

Be prepared for servers to jump on tables to dance. Be prepared to be part of a non-stop party of fun.

If you are looking for a quiet restaurant to relax in, this may not be the place. If you are looking for nonstop fun with great music, this is the place.

While these pictures make it look empty, this is not the case 99% of the year. We are local to Gulf Shores, so we visited recently during one of the quiet weeks in town.

During the summer, you can expect the restaurant to be packed with families, friends, and locals having fun.

Indoor Bar

The indoor bar is long and offers great views of their multiple TVs for watching games. Grab a cocktail in a souvenir Hangout glass and enjoy the show.

Outdoor Courtyard Area

The outdoor area is unlike any other restaurant in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach. There are photo ops, a giant sand pit, wish wall, and so much more.

Kids can dig for treasures in the giant sand pile. Parents and adults can relax with the sound of music and waves in the distance.

The menu has a mix of burgers, seafood, salads, and appetizers.

Appetizer highlights: 

The appetizers are fantastic!

Hummus & Chips - Traditional hummus dip garnished with red peppers served with celery, carrots, and crispy tortilla chips

Peel & Eat Shrimp -  delicious fresh large Gulf shrimp prepared hot with Old Bay butter or served chilled with lemon and cocktail sauce.

Snow Crab Appetizer - Half pound of cold, refreshing Alaskan snow crab legs served with melted butter.

Fried Calamari Appetizer - Lightly breaded and gently fried fresh calamari. Served with lemon and their signature homemade Shaka sauce.

Hangout Wings - A full pound of award-winning XL wings served with celery and your choice of BBQ Sauce, Buffalo Sauce, or dry rub.

Gulf Coast Favorites 

Snapper Platter - Our fresh wild-caught snapper golden fried and drizzled with chipotle aioli, served with fries.

Ultimate Seafood Boil - snow crab, mussels, fresh Gulf shrimp, sweet corn, red potatoes, and Conecuh sausage- all poached to perfection in a low boil and finished with Old Bay garlic butter.

Chicken Tender Platter - Marinated and brined chicken tenders. Hand-battered and fried served on top a heap of fries.

Shrimp Plate - Fresh wild-caught Gulf shrimp golden fried and served with cocktail sauce, Shaka sauce, and fries - shrimp doesn't get fresher than this!

Shrimp n Grits - Blackened southern Gulf shrimp with gouda grits cooked to perfection, topped with sausage tasso cream sauce.

Super Shrimp Boil - Full pound of large, wild-caught shrimp, sweet corn, red potatoes, and Conecuh sausage. Finished with Old Bay garlic butter.

Glazed Salmon - Asian glazed salmon fillet with a hint of ginger, served with white rice and seasonal veggies.

Beachside - Burgers Favorites

The Hangout's burgers are made with American Beef served on a brioche bun with fries.

Alabama Wagyu Burger - Alabama Wagyu, our herd is a direct descendant of the world-renowned "Red Emperor" from Kobe, Japan, and is locally and sustainably farmed right here in Gulf Shores, AL. Our cattle are raised in an all-natural, stress-free, hormone, and antibiotic-free environment. This results in superior signature marbling that has won many awards! Topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. Served with fries. To unveil its delicacy, the chef recommends keepin' it a little pink.

Pimento Cheese Burger -  ½ lb patty topped with house-made pimento cheese, signature bacon jam, lettuce, and tomato.

The Lifeguard - 2 of 1⁄2 lb patties stacked with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, fried onion straws, fried egg, thick sliced bacon, and our famous Monarch fried pickles.

Shaka Burger -  1⁄2 lb patty topped with fried fresh Gulf shrimp, remoulade, smothered in homemade Shaka cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles.

Bama BBQ Burger -  ½ lb patty topped with pulled pork and sweet Alabama BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, coleslaw, and onion straws.

Hang 10 Burger - Signature burger topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles.

Additional Menu Favorites

Hangout House Salad - Fresh local greens with grape tomatoes, julienne red onions, and sliced cucumbers. Served with your choice of dressing.

Alabama Cobb Salad - Fresh local greens, grilled chicken, bacon, egg, avocado, tomato, cucumber, bleu cheese crumbles, and ranch dressing! This is a big salad!

Caesar Salad - Served with romaine hearts, Parmesan cheese, croutons and Caesar dressing.

Chicken BLT Po'Boy - Fried chicken, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, bacon, and remoulade sauce. Served with fries.

They also offer snapper and shrimp po'boys

Kids Menu AKA Little Shakas - Hamburger, popcorn shrimp, mac n cheese, chicken tenders, or hot dog sliders. Served with choice of French fries, applesauce, or the veggie of the day.

Gluten-Free - The menu designates items that are gluten-free including the Ultimate Seafood Boil, Snow crab entree, hummus & chips, snow crab appetizer, peel & eat shrimp,

Vegan - The hummus is probably the only option other than a salad without meat.

Vegetarian - The only designated vegetarian item on the menu is the Hummus and Chips on the appetizer menu.

I was able to ask for chicken to be left off of the nachos. They said that the queso did not have any meat products in it.

Signature Cocktails - The signature cocktails are amazing! You can expect a colorful cocktail perfect for your beach vacation!

Shark Attack - even better than Shark Week with Malibu Coconut Rum, Blue Curaçao & pineapple juice. A Hangout Favorite! An epic signature cocktail!

Surf's Up -  Malibu Coconut Rum, blue curaçao, peach schnapps, and pineapple & cranberry juice.

Blood Orange Paloma - a one-way salsa dance to the Caribbean with Hornitos Tequila, fresh-squeezed lime, blood orange puree & Sprite.

Hangout Premium Margarita -  Altos Tequila, orange liquor, agave nectar & hand-squeezed lime.

Southern Mai Tai - made with Malibu, Amaretto, and Triple Sec, Blessed with pineapple juice, sour mix, and grenadine.

Hangout Music Festival

Hangout Fest is an annual musical event with an amazing lineup of entertainers. Make sure to check out the VIP festival tickets to get the best opportunity to see as much as possible.

Past music lineups have included - Post Malone, Doja Cat, Kane Brown

For 2025, the Hangout Music Festival is being replaced by the Sand in My Boots Festival with Morgan Wallen.

Pirates and Princess Breakfast

Enjoy a swashbuckling breakfast adventure that the whole family will enjoy! Games, dances, and a treasure hunt along with an all you can easy breakfast.

The all you can eat breakfast includes a platter of biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and breakfast potatoes.

You can add French toast, pancakes, fruit plates for an additional charge. Parents can enjoy Bloody Marys and Mimosas.

Reservations are needed so you can choose which seating you want to attend.

Accessibility - There is accessible parking spaces right outside of the restaurant. There is a ramp leading into the restaurant at the front and from the back courtyard.

Inside the restaurant there is room to maneuver between tables.

Plus Size Seating - The chairs are really comfortable and heavy duty so you don't have to worry about relaxing in them.

Dress Code/Suggestions - Casual

Pets - Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the outdoor courtyard.

Parking  - There is a designated Hangout parking lot next to the restaurant along with paid parking in front of the restaurant.

Reservations are not accepted except for the Pirates and Princess Breakfast.
