St George Island Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse on St. George Island that you don't want to miss! Climb to the top of this historic lighthouse for epic views.

St. George Island Lighthouse
I love visiting historic lighthouses along the Gulf Coast. I always think about the storms they have weathered and what lightkeepers did to keep people safe while they were operating.
The St. George Lighthouse has a fantastic museum in the visitor center that gives you the opportunity to learn about the history of the lighthouse along with seeing historic artifacts from lightkeepers and the lighthouse.
The Cape St. George Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses on Florida's Gulf Coast.
October 2005 the Cape St. George Lighthouse collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico. It was first built in 1833, rebuilt in 1848 and 1852 on Little St. George Island.

✨What's New in Panama City Beach
The St. George Lighthouse Association and local volunteers worked to salve the pieces of the lighthouse when it collapsed from beach erosion. They collected thousands of old bricks.
When the lighthouse was reconstructed, they used as much of the original bricks and materials as they could. They were able to use the original plans that had been preserved at the National Archives in Washington DC.
