Cajun Man's Swamp Tours
If you are looking for a Houma, Louisiana Swamp Tour, you are going to love Captain Billy Gaston. This was one of the best swamp tours in Houma, LA, we have done.
We are still in awe of how many gators we saw and how they come when Capt. Billy calls for them. Yes, you read that correctly. Captain Billy calls out for the gators and all of a sudden; you see them swimming toward the boat like swamp puppies.
I had never thought of a gator as a swamp puppy until this tour. They were so excited approaching the boat with their tails wiggling.
You may even have the chance to feed one of the gators on your Cajun Man's Swamp Cruise.
Captain Billy has experience as an alligator hunter for over 30 years but thankfully the only hunting for gators on these tours is with your camera .
We were really impressed with the knowledge Captain Billy shared as our tour guide. He grew up in the Southern Louisiana Bayous and it shows.
He was able to easily point out local wildlife, birds, and share how different things in the bayou were used in history. His passion for the bayou showed during the tour.
Wildlife/Birds
In addition to gators, we saw Bald Eagles, Limpkin, Roseate Spoonbill, Common Gallinule, turtles, Cattle Egrets, Anhinga, Great Egrets, Prothonotary Warblers, Great Blue Heron, a Yellow Billed Cuckoo, and more.
You may also see hawks, owls, migratory birds and more depending on the time of year you are visiting.
While specific animal sightings can't be guaranteed, there is always something amazing to see in the Louisiana Bayou.
Don't forget to bring your camera! We took so many photos on our swamp tour it was hard to decide which ones to share.
If you are a birder you will want to bring binoculars to look for birds in the Spanish Moss and Cypress swamp.
