Old 77 Hotel New Orleans
Located in the heart of New Orleans Warehouse Arts District, the Old 77 Hotel is the perfect boutique hotel for a romantic getaway, art-filled trip to NOLA, or a really great night's sleep.
From the moment you walk into the Old 77 Hotel lobby, you know you are in for a fantastic stay. The lobby vibe is upscale, artsy comfort. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with.

Make sure to bring $1s or a couple of $5 bills to try the Art-O-Mat! It is filled with unique art pieces that you can bring home as a souvenir.

The building that the Old 77 Hotel and Chandlery is in today was built in 1854. At that time, the area was a bustling commercial district serving the Port of New Orleans.
The building was a coffee warehouse before it was purchased by E.J. Hart, who converted it into a general store or chandlery called E.J. Hart & Co. The store sold essentials for the booming shipping industry, including canvas, rope, paper, tobacco, and patent medicines. An elaborate drug store laboratory was set up on the 2nd floor.
Around the turn of the 20th century, New Orleans changed its street address system for the city, and the building's address changed from 77 Tchoupitoulas to 535 Tchoupitoulas. Many New Orleans residents continued to refer to it as the old No. 77 due to its original address.

The building was restored around 1980 after sitting empty for nearly a century. It was transformed into the Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery in 2015.
Today, the Old No. 77 Hotel is a calm oasis a few blocks from Canal Street and the hustle and bustle of New Orleans.
During our stay at the hotel, I kept telling my husband that I was amazed at how quiet it was in our room. We stayed in a Tchoupoulas king room on the 4th floor overlooking the street and didn't hear any city noise.

Tchoupitoulas King Room Review - We stayed in a king room on the 4th floor of the Old 77 Hotel. The elevator only runs with a valid key card which is a nice extra layer of security.
Our room had a lot of space for a hotel room in the middle of the city. The room featured wood floors, brick walls, unique art pieces, a desk area with an honor bar, a mini fridge, and a flat-screen television.
There is a comfortable side chair with a reading lamp. The bathroom had a walk-in shower that was fantastic.
Overall, the room was everything we needed for a getaway to NOLA to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We would happily stay at the Old 77 Hotel again.
