When we first moved to the Gulf Coast, we kept hearing that Cobalt Restaurant in Orange Beach was the perfect date night restaurant if you wanted a fancy dinner.
You can imagine our surprise when we first visited for lunch, and it was casual, comfortable, and pretty low-key.
Don't get me wrong, the food is phenomenal, and we always have unbelievable service while dining. What surprised me was how great the menu prices were and how comfortable the restaurant was.
Please don't let people tell you that it is only for a fancy date night. Cobalt Orange Beach is the perfect spot for dinner with a great view or a relaxing Sunday Brunch.
The restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Orange Beach for a reason! The waterfront view alone is worth planning a date night.
Indoor Seating
Cobalt Orange Beach has great indoor seating with comfortable chairs. The tables are spread out so you can enjoy a great conversation without having to talk over the table next to you.
We find it really relaxing to eat inside and enjoy the views of the water.
Indoor Bar
There is a nice size bar with counter height tables and chairs along with bar seating.
Outdoor Seating
Cobalt is one of our favorite water view restaurants in Orange Beach! Especially at sunset!
There is a large outdoor patio perfect for date night or a family dinner. There are large tables perfect for a group traveling together.
Cobalt Restaurant Menu
There are a few different Cobalt Restaurant Menus depending on if you are visiting for lunch, dinner, or Sunday Brunch.
Each of the menus highlights the contemporary coastal cuisine and authentic dishes created by renowned chefs. I will tell you that you are going to want to visit Cobalt Orange Beach multiple times there are so many delicious options to choose from.
Menu Highlights
Legendary Firecracker Shrimp - Lightly dusted bay shrimp fried and tossed in spicy remoulade sauce.
Oysters - Raw, Creole Casino, Garlic Parmesan Chargrilled, Rockefeller, or a combo of all three with grilled French Bread.
Tuna and Avocado Stack - Sashimi grade tuna and avocado tossed in sweet Asian sauce, served between crisp wontons.
Cobalt Caviar - a refreshing blend of black beans, edamame, corn, red onion, Roma tomatoes and cilantro tossed in a light vinaigrette and served with corn tortilla chips.
BBQ Gulf Shrimp - Sautéed in a Creole butter sauce and served with grilled French bread.
Cobalt Crab Bisque - Creamy blend of sweet blue crab, sweet corn and roasted tomato.
Epic Cobalt Beast Burger - a blend of elk, wild boar, wagyu and bison blackened and topped with bleu cheese, bacon and caramelized onions. Served on a brioche bun with garlic aioli.
This Cobalt burger is so good it made our best burgers in Orange Beach list.
Super Grilled Cheese - Served on two slices of Buzzcatz bread with Smoked Gouda, Parmesan, Swiss, provolone and American cheeses with bacon and tomatoes. Served with fries
Shrimp Fra Diavolo - Gulf shrimp sautéed with roasted mushrooms, onions, chargrilled lemon, fresh spinach and arugula with spicy marinara and angel hair pasta.
Fried Shrimp Platter - Lightly dusted fried shrimp served with fries, cole slaw, and cocktail or tartar sauce.
Fried Apple Pie - This dessert is delicious!
Bread pudding - Our friend Sara from Travel With Sara said this is one of the best bread puddings in Orange Beach.
Salad options
The salads are fantastic!! They are super popular for a good reason.
Dressing options include - Champagne Citrus Vinaigrette, Honey Mustard, Bleu Cheese, Thousand Island, Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette, Ranch
House Salad - This salad is delicious with a blend of crisp romaine and spring greens with tomato, red onions, cucumbers and peppadews.
Cobalt Wedge - This is really popular! Baby iceberg lettuce with tomato, cucumber, diced red onion, applewood smoked bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and creamy bleu cheese dressing.
Blackened Tuna - Served over mixed greens lightly tossed in a Champagne citrus vinaigrette with candied Baldwin County pecans, crumbled goat cheese, orange segments and house pickled vegetables.
Dinner Menu Highlights
Cobalt Crab and Shrimp Dip - Hot creamy blend of fresh blue crab and tender bay shrimp with roasted sweet red peppers, Parmesan and Swiss cheese. Accompanied by grilled French bread.
Fresh Catch Seafood - Served grilled, blackened or fried with jambalaya rice and brown butter green beans.
Pecan fried Catfish - Alabama farm-raised filets over tasso ham, sweet corn and black-eyed pea succotash drizzled with dill tartar.
Gulf Shrimp and Grits - One dozen large Gulf shrimp skewered, chargrilled and served over roasted red pepper and fontina cheese grits and Cajun cream sauce.
Ribeye - A well marbled Certified Angus Beef® Ribeye Steak with smoked cheddar bacon mash, brown butter green beans and port demi glace.
Stone Hearth Pizzas - Margherita, roasted duck, Cobalt Pizza or a build your own!
Additional Toppings options include Mozzarella, Parmesan, Smoked Gouda, Bacon, Fresh Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Peppers, Ground Beef, Onions, Grilled Chicken, Anchovies, Roasted Tomatoes, Black Olives, Pineapple, Fresh Sliced Jalapeño, Roasted Mushrooms, Banana Peppers.
Margherita Pizza (YUM) - House crust lightly brushed with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and cracked black pepper topped with oven roasted Roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil chiffonade.
Cobalt Pizza - Grilled chicken, smoked bacon, fresh spinach and arugula, oven roasted mushrooms and sautéed onions on house crust with marinara, mozzarella and smoked Gouda cheese.
Oysters by the half dozen or dozen served raw, Garlic Parmesan Chargrilled (garlic butter and savory Parmesan cheese), Creole Casino (Tasso, jalapeño, red bell pepper, shallots, cream cheese and smoked Gouda), or Rockefeller (a traditional blend of spinach, garlic, shallots, parsley, anchovies and green onion with a hint of anisette). All served with grilled French Bread.
Zydeco Chicken - Blackened chicken with spicy housemade tasso ham, sweet onions, bell peppers and fresh pappardelle pasta tossed in Cajun alfredo.
The house made sauces are divine - Louisiana Hot Sauce Hollandaise, Cajun Cream, Cobalt Steak Butter, Creole Tomato Sauce, Port Demi Glace
Side dish options include Brown butter green beans, creamy parmesan risotto, hoppin john, grilled asparagus, tasso ham corn and black eyed pea succotash, smoked cheddar bacon mash, fries, jambalaya rice, cobalt greens, roasted red pepper and fontina cheese grits, or cole slaw.
Sunday Brunch Menu Highlights
I love a good brunch! There is nothing better than enjoying a delicious meal with an epic view of the Gulf.
This is one of the best brunches in Orange Beach!
Crab Benedict - Two housemade fried Blue crab cakes over an English muffin. Topped with poached eggs and drizzled with a fire roasted red bell pepper hollandaise.
Seafood Omelet - Bay shrimp, Blue crab, spinach, onion and Parmesan. Topped with roasted red bell pepper hollandaise.
Huevos Rancheros - Fresh poblano corn muffins, pinto beans, chorizo, housemade salsa and avocado topped with two over easy eggs.
The Roscoe- A lightly fried chicken breast tossed in our sweet heat sauce with French toast topped with the fruit compote of the day. Drizzled with honey.
Shrimp and Grits - Gulf Shrimp sauteed with andouille sausage, served with housemade Creole tomato sauce over roasted red pepper and fontina cheese grits
Kids Menu - The kids menu includes a hamburger, cheeseburger, fish (grilled or fried), chicken (grilled or fried), Fried shrimp, pasta marina, and pasta alfredo.
If you need to wait for your table we suggest sitting outside on the patio. You can order food for kids there and make sure your kids are not getting hangry while waiting for a table.
This is a great way to make sure everyone is happy and well fed.
Gluten-Free - There is a designated gluten-free menu on their website. Options include Cobalt Caviar, Salads (house, Caesar, Cobalt Wedge, Blackened Tuna), tons of side dishes, Oysters, Yellowfin Tuna, Bronzed grouper, blackened redfish, ribeye, filet, and a chicken breast.
Vegan - Salads without the dressing, grilled asparagus
Vegetarian - The Brown Butter Green Beans are delicious!
Signature Cocktails - There are a ton of fantastic cocktails available.

Another reason to love Cobalt Orange Beach....the bakery case near the hostess stand. Oh my goodness! Their in house pastry chef makes the most amazing cupcakes, whoopie pies, and tarts.
The salted caramel cupcake is divine!! I would suggest picking up a few treats to take home with you! Trust me they are that good.

Friday – Saturday 11 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Sunday Brunch 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Please confirm with the restaurant to ensure that hours have not changed.
Accessibility - There is a ramp leading into the restaurant and down to the outdoor seating.
Plus Size Seating - The indoor chairs do not have arms on them.
Some of the outdoor chairs do have arms. When we asked for a chair without arms they said they could not guarantee it even though only a couple of tables were filled outside.
If you need a chair without arms I would make sure you request one and ask if you can move a chair to the table.
Dress Code/Suggestions - casual to date night depending on how you feel.
Pets - Pets are not allowed in the restaurant.
Parking - There is a nice size parking area next to the restaurant. Make sure you park at the restaurant and not the Gulf State Park beach paid parking lot.
Boat In - Cobalt Restaurant is next to a marina with numerous boat slips available for small boats as well as medium-sized yachts.
Cobalt Restaurant is owned by Brian and Jodi Harsany who also own Luna's Eat and Drink, Cosmo's Restaurant and Bar, BuzzCatz Coffee and Sweets, GTs on the Bay, and Magnolia Hall in Orange Beach.
