Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park
Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park is one of the best places for sunset on Captiva Island.
I love walking along the beach at Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park, looking for shells and soaking in the gorgeous views of the Gulf.
Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park on Captiva Island might not have its own parking lot, but what it lacks in convenience, it more than makes up for in pure Captiva Beach goodness.
This beloved beach access sits in the heart of Captiva Village, steps from the famous Mucky Duck restaurant, and offers some of the most spectacular sunsets you'll witness on Florida's Gulf Coast.
There are bike racks next to the beach entrance if you want to skip worrying about parking.
Sunset Watching at Its Finest
Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park has earned its reputation as one of the best sunset spots on Captiva Island, and once you experience it, you'll understand why.
The western-facing beach offers unobstructed views of the sun sinking into the Gulf, painting the sky in brilliant oranges, pinks, and purples. Arrive about 30-45 minutes before sunset to claim your spot on the sand, and watch as the beach fills with fellow sunset admirers, all sharing in this nightly spectacle.
Excellent Shelling Opportunities
Captiva Island is famous for its shelling, and Andy Rosse Lane Beach Park delivers on that promise. I love walking along the beach here, scanning the sand for beautiful shells while soaking in the gorgeous Gulf views.
The best shelling happens during low tide and after storms when new treasures wash ashore. Early morning beachcombers often find the best selection before the beach gets busy. Bring a mesh bag or bucket for your finds, and remember Florida's regulations: only collect empty shells, and leave live shells in the water where they belong.
Make sure to bring
