✨What's New in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
Alabama Point East
Alabama Point East is a Gulf State Park beach access point located at the far eastern end of Orange Beach, just 0.3 miles east of the Perdido Pass Bridge. With over 6,000 feet of wide white sand beach, four boardwalks over the dunes and sea oats, restrooms, and paid parking, it gives you everything you need for a full day on the Gulf without the crowds that gather at more central beach access points.
The position near the pass means the beach runs along the Gulf and around toward the pass itself, giving you a longer stretch of sand to walk and explore.

Beach Safety
Always check the beach safety flags before entering the water at Alabama Point East. The beach near the Perdido Pass Bridge regularly sees red flags due to the strong tidal currents moving in and out of Perdido Pass.
The pass creates fast-moving water that can be dangerous even for strong swimmers. A double red flag means the water is closed to the public. Pay close attention and follow lifeguard instructions.
Free loaner life jackets are available at Alabama Point East for children and those who are not strong swimmers. They are available in multiple sizes and should be returned before you leave.

Boardwalks to the Beach
There are four boardwalks that take you out to different access points on the beach. There is no shade along the boardwalks! The walk can feel a lot longer than you plan it to be.
We highly suggest having an easy way to bring your beach toys, accessories, games, coolers, and chairs out with you. A beach wagon will make this walk a little easier.
A few of the boardwalks end with a stretch of soft sand you need to maneuver through to get back to the parking lot! Make sure your beach wagon is prepared for super soft sand.
If you have kids with you we highly suggest making sure they are aware of the specific boardwalk you are taking to get to the beach. The different boardwalks end at different areas of the beach and if they come back on the wrong one they may not be able to see where you are.

Picnic Area
There is a covered picnic area next to the main parking area. Depending on the time of year, there may be food trucks set up in the Alabama Point East parking lot. This varies depending on the season.
