    The Gulf Coast Is Waiting

With more than 1,600 miles of gorgeous coastline, the Gulf Coast is an RVer's dream trip. Year-round warm weather, a variety of attractions, restaurants, and state and national parks, paired with gorgeous campgrounds with hookups.

These are some of our favorite RV Campgrounds along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida.

If you want the RV camping experience and don't have an RV, you can rent one with RVshare and have it delivered and set up at one of these campgrounds, so you don't have to worry about driving it to the campground, or you can rent one and drive it around the Gulf coast exploring the region.

First Timer? Here's what to know before you go

Here are a few things to get straight before you arrive:

Know your hookups. Most developed campgrounds offer 30-amp or 50-amp electric service along with water and sewer connections (called "full hookups"). Larger RVs typically need 50-amp; smaller rigs run fine on 30. When booking through RVShare, the listing will clearly show what the RV requires, so there's no guesswork.

Book early, especially in winter. The Gulf Coast is snowbird central from November through March, when campers from the Midwest and Northeast migrate south for warmth. Parks fill up fast. If you're planning a winter or spring break trip, aim to reserve 3-6 months in advance.

Mind hurricane season. Peak season runs from June through November. Most Gulf Coast RVers time their trips for fall through spring to avoid both summer heat and storm risk. That said, shoulder seasons, October and April, often deliver the best weather and the thinnest crowds.

Start with a rental. If you're not sure which RV type fits your style, renting first is the smartest move you can make. RVShare has a wide selection of Gulf Coast-area rigs available for short-term rental, so you can test a Class C before committing, or try a camper van if you're leaning minimalist.

RV Camping on the Alabama Gulf Coast

I may be a bit biased about the Alabama Gulf Coast as a full-time resident of Gulf Shores but I have to say we are blessed to have amazing white sand beaches, gorgeous campgrounds, and tons of places to visit.

Gulf State Park, Gulf Shores, Alabama

Gulf State Park is the perfect Alabama Gulf Coast campground! Close to the beach with full hookups so you don't have to stress about utilities. The campground has a nature center, pool, hiking trails, community programs, and easy access to the state park beaches.

If you want the RV camping experience and don't have an RV you can rent one with RVshare and have it delivered and set up at the Gulf State Park Campground.

There are so many different makes and models of RVs available on RVshare. I looked to see what I could find for a local staycation and it was amazing to see all of the options.
